Of course this is not the fun part of buying a home but it will go a long way in making your purchase a successful one. Try and get a feel for the homes available and the general pricing in your area of interest. Most importantly become an informed buyer before searching blindly by getting a taste of what is out there.
2. Before beginning to search you must formulate a budget for your purchase. How can you tour houses if you don't know what you can afford? Obtaining a mortgage can be a bit of a process in itself, so make sure to be as prepared as possible. Pay off all debts; debt negatively contributes to obtaining a loan and lowers the amount you can afford to pay toward your mortgage. Also, check out your credit file online for free.
